This TWSBI Obsidian fountain pen is made of a dark grey/black swirled acrylic resin, complemented by rose gold-plated trim, and is equipped with a rose gold-plated stainless steel nib, of comparable size to the TWSBI 580 nib. Like all TWSBIs, it comes with a benchmark piston ink-filling mechanism and has all detachable parts. An ink window allows you to see your remaining ink level.
While the pen cap will physically fit onto the back of the pen body in a way that would be considered ‘posting’, TWSBI recommends NOT doing so to avoid potentially scratching the barrel.
The TWSBI Obsidian is a limited edition and will not be produced ongoing.

I recently picked up the TWSBI Obsidian Limited Edition Fountain Pen, and it’s easily one of the most visually striking pens I’ve owned. The color is absolutely stunning—deep, rich, and dynamic. What really stands out is how the resin comes alive in the light; depending on the angle, it reveals subtle depth and variation that photos don’t fully capture. It’s one of those pens you find yourself turning in your hand just to watch it shift.
The rose gold accents are the perfect complement to the body, adding a level of warmth and refinement that elevates the entire design without being flashy. It feels thoughtfully balanced—both aesthetically and physically.
Performance-wise, the medium nib is smooth right out of the box. It lays down a consistent, satisfying line with just the right amount of flow, making it a pleasure for everyday writing.
I also want to give special recognition to Sergio Santa Cruz, whose knowledge and guidance made the selection process easy and enjoyable. His ability to match the right writing tools to specific needs really stands out, and it made a difference in choosing a pen that I truly appreciate.
