For centuries, the timeless art of maki-e has brought to life the intricate depth of Japanese history and culture. Platinum offers maki-e from renowned and respected artists who have developed their skills over a lifetime. The Izumo Urokomon is an exquisitely crafted fountain pen in the boldly drawn ancient kiccho (scale) pattern. In the Hira maki-e technique, the design is created by hand, applying layer upon layer of urushi lacquer, gold and silver dust, vibrant color pigments and raden (abalone shells).

The Platinum Izumo Urokomon features the large 18k, two-tone gold nib.

Each Platinum Izumo fountain pen is packaged in a wooden box with a pen kimono, a bottle of ink, and a single cartridge and converter.
