In this collection, TACCIA applies a new urushi technique called “Kanshitsu”.
“Kanshitsu” (dry-urushi technique) was first introduced in the Warring States Period in China (B.C. 475 - B.C. 221). Craftsmen would use soil or plaster to make inner tubes, and then overlaid with linen and lacquer in successions on the inner tube. After drying and removal of the inner tube, the hard shell formed by the linen and lacquer will remain. The finished product is not only light, but also very sturdy. It was widely used in making Buddhist sculpture during ancient times in China.
It has a Sailor-made 14k-gold nib.
