Combining the Latin words 'filum' (thread) and 'granum' (seed), silver 'filigree' describes an art form that is achieved by first die cutting a base layer of silver sheets and then meticulously etching elaborate grooves into its surface. The polished binding seen on Paperblanks Silver Filigree Maya Blue journal is inspired by a 1697 French binding of Johann Arndt's ParadiesgÌ_rtlein.
